Best treatment for eczema in infant?

My 5 month old was diagnosed with eczema at 4 months, he had it long before and I suspected that it was eczema because his rashes look just like mine and that's what I have. I started using aveeno unscented baby products on him and they don't really work, but they dont further irritate his skin the way other products do. His doctor suggested that we use a hydrocortizone cream and eucerin baby aquaphor, i've been using them for a month but his rashes only seem to get worse and spread.Best treatment for eczema in infant?
my son had a severe outbreak of eczema when he first started showing signs of having it...it was a complete bummer!! his doctor told us the same thing...the hydrocortizone and aquaphor. We also gave him fewer baths and switched out laundry detergent to a free and clear hypoallergenic. right when he is out of the bath I slather on eucerin calming cream lotion and then the aquaphor on the trouble spots. the doc also considered that it might be due to a milk allergy so we switched his fomula to a soy based formula...i supplement breast feeding with formula but you didn't mention which method you use...you might look into that aspect as well...obviously nursing is the best method but they can pick up the allergy from dairy products you might eat too..everything has cleared up really well for our son except for one spot on his chest that we finally took him to a dermatologist at childrens hospital to treat...they prescribed a steroid anitbiotic that has made the spot finally disappear after the several months he's been bothered by it.... eczema sucks!!! but hopefully you can get it cleared up! good luck!!Best treatment for eczema in infant?
My two kids suffer from eczema. And what we do is for bad patched we use a hydrocortizone cream and then we apply a very rich moisturizer. The moisturizer is a preparation-no medicinal ingredients-is made of the lotion brand Glaxxal Base + Glycerin.

We apply the Glaxxal every day at least twice a day. It's a very rich mositurizer that even with the washing of the hands still stays in.

Every morning I apply it all over their body, specially in affected areas, and at night again. In the summer is more frequent due to being exposed to the water more often.

As for baths keep them short and use Aveeno products which are very mild for your baby skin. Too much water dried the skin.

Talk to your doctor abotu Glaxxal base and see what he says. My son had really bad eczema as a baby and now at 4 he still has it but it's much milder.
Try Burt's bees lotion for babies. Its not necessarily for eczema, but it helps my daughter if her skin doesn't get too bad.

She has had eczema since she was a baby, and is almost 3 now. When she was really young it was hard to find something - we did use the aveeno, but it didn't really make it better. We started using the Burt's bees lotion when she was about 15 months, and it seems to do the job.
exzema since birth. no cure but some relief. im 37 yrs old still suffering. did all the research i could thruout the yrs. lotion- jergens cherry almond, ponds, johnson and johnson baby pink lotion bottle. soap......dove pink bar if you need face wash cetaphil..... no hot showers, dont bathe the baby everyday maybe 3times a week. keep out of the sun for long periods. sunscreen neutrogena. shampoo pantene works good. no citrus fruit juices... foods... stay away from tomatoes ,oranges, lemons, etc. always keep moisturized.sometimes when someone with excema and its really itchy the stress from it make it worse. elidel work good but you cant use it for a long time. sweat makes excema flare up. detergent soap try not to wash with alot of detergent. bleach a no-no! theres alot of steriod cream that can help the itching but ive been told its stop a person from growing im soo short dont know if it caused it. but if you follow al these instuction you should be able to contol the excema. good luck
My doctor told me not to use any soap on my daughter, just water. He gave me a prescription for cream and it seemed to help clear it up. Now that it is cleared up I will only use the Aveeno soap so that it doesn't get worse again.
We made dietary changes for our daughter, as well as using hydrocortizone and Renew lotion from Melaleuca. She was diagnosed at 4 months, now at the age of almost 2.5 years she has no special dietary needs and rarely gets eczema flare-ups.
for some it may be on the pricey side but Aveeno brand baby wash and lotion, it has a dark blue cap and says for eczema on the bottle! It did wonderfully for my daughter, though hers was not severe!
I have found cortef to work its amazing, you can buy it at any drugstore or pharmacy like shoppers drugmart :)
To bath him, use Dove sensitive skin bar soap... nothing else.

It is expensive, but the best lotion (recommended by my dermatologist for exzema) is Eucerin or Cetaphil. It comes in a tub and it's a thicker body cream type lotion... the cetaphil one is green and I think the Eucerin is white with blue writing. Both are good, and they really will clear up the exzema.

Poor baby... good luck!

Edit: I've never tried the Eucerin aquaphor... I use the kind that comes in the tub, it's not so much lotion, but more of a cream. It just says ';original cream'; on the tub. But if the aquaphor's not working for you, I don't know that I would spend the money on another Eucerin product, they are kind of expensive. Maybe try the cetaphil instead. Same thing, original cream, it's a green tub.
